Professor David Devraj Kumar

Bio and Research Interests

David Devraj Kumar is a professor of science education and founding director of the STEM Education Laboratory in the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University. He earned his doctorate in science education from Vanderbilt University and a master’s in analytical chemistry from the University of Louisville. His research and scholarly activities include STEM problem-based learning with computer anchors, STEM teaching workforce, policy, and nanoscale materials science education. He has directed several funded research and development projects, including those supported by the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Education, and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. His science education work was rewarded with the Royal Society of Chemistry Sir Ron Nyholm Education Prize and the American Institute of Chemists Chemical Pioneer Award. He is an honorary fellow of the American Institute of Chemists, a fellow of the International Academy of Education and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Academy of Community Engagement Scholarship.
