GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2024

The General Assembly meeting was held at the Raffles Town Club in Singapore from Thursday, September 5 through Saturday, September 7. Several discussion sessions were held on Thursday and Fellows attended a welcome dinner hosted by Professor Liu Woon Chia, director of Singapore’s National Institute of Education (NIE). On Friday, Fellows participated in a symposium sponsored jointly by the Academy and the Educational Research Association of Singapore (ERAS). The symposium was attended by approximately 100 Singaporean educators. The business meeting was held on Saturday morning Kadriye Ercikan assumed the presidency and Ee-Ling Low was elected  President-Elect. A decision concerning the host and location of the 2026 General Assembly was delayed because of the relatively small number of attendees at the business meeting. There are two possible locations and hosts: Harvard University (Fernando Reimers) and the University of Bari, Italy (Beatrice Ligorio). Ballots will be sent to the entire membership of the Academy and the location/host receiving the most votes will be chosen.
